Styleyes: Milan snapshot

Milan unashamedly stands for high fashion and beautiful leather goodies.

Italian fashion is heavily tailored and regularly features intricate fabrics and designs.  So while the French stand for neutrals and clean lines, the trends in Italy were a lot less subtle with beautiful layering and accessories often stealing the show. I found the everyday fashion in Italy to be more 'formal' than what I am used too, this meaning they lacked an edgy or effortless style rather opting for more traditional outfit choices.

One of my favourite aspects of Italian fashion would have to be the accessories everyone seemed to adorn themselves with. Bags and boots were out in full force, with high fashion labels including Prada and Louis Vuitton appearing 'common' among the masses.

Trends included biker inspired boots with metal hardware of the buckle and stud variety (must admit I am a sucker for a little bling on my boot!), as well as lots of layers, whether they be sweater, vest, jacket combinations or stockings, shorts and socks formulas - layering was in! Another look impossible to ignore was that of patterned knits. Patterns were flying high with skirts, sweaters and even jackets being printed in some intricate design making them perfect for pattern and colour clashing!

Next stop is Spain! Stay tuned to see how the Spaniards compare with their European neighbours!
