"I was in the 212"

Calvin Klein singlet top. Zara skort. Marc by Marc Jacobs watch.

Every Tuesday I am lucky enough to have a day off! On these days however I find myself in SoHo right next to work, as coincidently enough it is my favourite shopping spot in Manhattan. So I thought I would share with you some of my must see places in this little neighborhood!

Before a big day of shopping, and lets face, it what kind of shopping day isn’t big, I go to my favorite café in NYC.  Ruby’s’ is an Australian run (yes that’s right my local spot to eat does happen to be Australian, but I didn’t plan it I swear!) café located in Nolita on Mulberry st between Spring and Prince St. It may be small, but boy does this kitchen produce some goodies.  I can pretty much recommend anything off the menu since I have tried it all at one time or another, but my favourite breakfast items include the Bircher muesli (American’s just don’t understand how to make it) and the avocado toast.  But Ruby’s specialty would have to be their burgers.  Made on fresh Panini’s they are AMAZING! As in better than Grill’d, if that were possible.

After a stamina boost its time to hit the shops! Yes there are the main stores that you can’t go past such as Bloomingdales, Top Shop and Zara, but hidden amongst these stores lie unique boutiques that cannot be ignored!

Opening Ceremony would have to be my most loved boutique in this little pocket of New York. Carrying labels such as Phillip Lim, Proenza Schouler and Rodarte the stuff is beautiful but can be kind of pricy.  Their house brand products are also to die for and a little bit more affordable.  However, if you are lucky enough to be here during a sale you are in luck.  Just as a general statement, American sales are not like those in Australia.  When they discount, they discount, and with a good exchange rate you can get some real steals!

Wink is another store located in SoHo that has little bits and pieces from various brands especially focusing on celebrity spotted trends.  The jewellery here is especially eye catching with pieces from House of Harlow and Jennifer Zeuner making this a must stop shop.

After exploring the side street stores make your way back out to Broadway on the corner of Spring St to a store called Buffalo by David Bitton.  This up and coming label is really cute and has some unique pieces as well as wardrobe staples.

In between shopping you may get thirsty, and when this time comes there is no better place than ‘Jakes Wife Freda’ for a refreshing drink.  The cantaloupe juice is my absolute favourite and something I had never tried before coming here.

After a short break hit up the higher end designer stores for some fashion inspiration or ‘window shopping’ as people like to say.  Alexander Wang, Free People and All Saints are some of the best with their stores being just as spectacular as their designs!

Happy Shopping!
