The season of ‘New Year
Resolutions’ is upon us.

We are all going to have to/will surely feel severely pressured to 'set these goals' over the next few weeks, fuelled by often awkward holiday party conversations culminating in overly dramatic breakdowns about the future - or maybe that's just us! So, we thought we would take our own twist on the idea by giving you guys the stcksandstnes New Years Fashion
Forecast for 2014. This forecast will
compile a list of what every girl/woman/man/dog will need/crave fashion-wise come the new year! Here at stcksandstnes, we love a good trend but more than that, fashion comes first! So get your pens ready because you’re not going to want to miss
this! These are not only our must-haves for 2014 but staples for our wardrobes...and yours!!
1. Jumpsuits
Yes we’ve seen them pop in and out of
fashion over the last couple of years however we believe that 2014 is truly, year
of the onesie! Whether they be long, short or of the overall or button
variety, jumpsuits are your new best friend.
The power of this playful piece of clothing is practical yet
stylish flair such an item of clothing presents for the wearer. We may be a tad bias, given the unspoken mantra to our lives is effectively something along the lines of, 'everything should be a jumpsuit'/'everything is better when it's a jumpsuit'/or 'be a jumpsuit, unless you can be a jumpsuit with pom poms - then be that!' Basically, we're jumpsuit obsessed and if we could find ones appropriate for every life occasion you'd never see us out of them! However, our bias has merit, we promise! 1. Shorts or pants on the bottom - ultimate practicality for a silly night out or a freak weather change (we do live in Melbourne after all) The top too so it's not going anywhere! 2. Default coordination - we love a matchy-matchy top short combo. 3. Everything is just automatically cuter as a jumpsuit, it just can't help it!! Rompers and playsuits are perfect for summer and the panted jumpsuit chic for the colder months!
* We promise a big post on our jumpsuit obsession soon!!

one-piece wonders for 2014!

Our second fashion forecast for 2014 would
have to be Perspex clutches. In particular - the personalised ones from Mnologie which see fashion blogger
royalty including the girls from howtwolive go gaga - these are must have bags on the Christmas list! The Indonesian based brand is inspired by
nature with the materials used for each piece hand-sourced from
various travel spots the designer has visited. As a result, these effortlessly chic perspex clutches with their gold hardware and personalised name plates are phenomenal, including the minaudière bags (these are the ones we're imagining in hand - reading property of stcks+stnes) In addition to the classic gold-plated bags, there are similarly those for the more mysterious, housing cute pouches that leave your belongs less than overtly on display. These designs with their witty slogans, reading 'célinemealone' and 'aint Laurent without Yves' are equally swoon-worthy. We
love the idea of being able to name our own bags and their see-through designs make them the perfect compliment to any outfit choice with endless options for coordination! We NEED to
get our hands on these for 2014!!
3. Ear Cuffs
Okay, so we know that this has been a long
time coming, with Jess having called the ear cuff trend a whole three years
ago but we think 2014 is the year they will really take off in the fashion
world - and hopefully that means a solid filtering down through the middle market so we don't have to squander a fortune on these bad boys (although most of our faves will break the bank!) This new must-have accessory has been flaunted by every celeb, including our fave Cara sporting them both on the red
carpet and the runway! Whether you go for a simple silver punk rock cuff
or prefer something a bit more dressed up adorned with stunning gems, this look is sure to cater for every fashion desire. This look is most on trend, in our opinion, when paired with a minimalistic outfit - letting the cuff do the talking! The difference between this baby and its sister-accessory the statement earring : they're meant to be worn unevenly so our tip is to pair this piece with a sleek hairstyle worn to the side ala Cara at the Met Gala. Best of
all, no piercing required! Why wear earrings when you can wear a whole
ear worth of bling in one simple cuff?!

We’ve done the mini and the maxi so now
comes time for the midi length skirt. This trend can be worn tight, flared or loose and if
done correctly can add inches to your height. It's all about the hemline: the sweet spot lies just below
the knee. This
hemline elongates the leg, creating a sophisticated and sexy look perfect for
any occasion but in order to fully pull
off this trend, it's all about proportions!! Consider the rest of the outfit for the intended effect beginning with the top which must be either tucked or cropped.
Come time to pick shoes, these can be anything to add a bit of oomph
to the outfit. Little heeled ankle boots
or the classic pump are full proof options that are sure to make a statement but if you are more daring, try pairing this trend with a loafer or something
that transforms your outfit into a style queen worthy ensemble! This elegant length is sure to make a
statement in the fashion world come 2014 and beyond!

5. Bum-bags
Now we know what you’re thinking, aren’t bum bags
the number one accessory for overly cautious tourists and market vendors??! The
answer is yes, yes they are. We rocked the trend ourselves at our Camberwell market stall a few months ago and god, it was convenient to say the least! But we’re
not talking about the classic fluro nylon bum bags with quirky Disney
characters or surf labels printed on their fronts.
Just think Louis Vuitton, Chanel and DKNY to name a few designers who
have adopted this trend and transformed it into the ultimate lust-have accessory for 2014. Practicality-meets-high fashion is the
perfect description for this fanny pack fashion faux pas of the past - a hands free device to carry all your goodies never looked so chic. Time to shift gears everyone, we’re going
back to the 90’s for a little bum bag loving!! I mean, if Chanel makes one, it must be chic!
