We have arrived!! Nothing makes a few Melbourne bloggers feel more like they’ve ‘made it’ than sitting in the front rows of the opening designer series show for MSFW 2013!! While we did win the tickets, (thank you so much to KOPPARBERG cider), we felt as much like fashion royalty as ever! Picking up the tickets at the Melbourne Town Hall, we were all but BLOWN AWAY to see the magical letter B next to our seating assignment meaning yes, we were sitting up front in the clear seats with a spectacular view of the runway! Goodie bags in toe thanks to MECCA COSMETICA, we couldn’t contain our excitement as the lights dimmed and the show started. As each show incorporated a unique entertainment, we were wowed by the opening nights’ (Designer Series 1) eclectic musical mix.

An ethereal harp effortlessly complimented Gweldolynne’s heaven-sent designs, a nod to something akin to the magic of a midsummer night’s dream, romance incarnate and embellished with garlands of flowers crowning the models’ heads. The vintage inspired collection sparkled with femininity, the flowing gowns dripping with elegance.

A quick departure into a similarly fantastical but ultimately darker, sultrier collection, Jason Grech showcased feminine silhouettes complimented with mysterious laced masks. The combination of delicate lace, flouncy tulle skirts and leather-strapped body-armour accessories made for the perfect combination of hard and soft.

Nicolangela’s spring florals were a breath of fresh air, creating ready-to-wear designs screaming ‘spring racing carnival’ while Aurelio Costarella’s rich, decadent designs sparkled with glitter and wowing metallics.

And cannot forget the menswear, now our new favourite thing to watch. Dom Bagnato had the boys looking races-ready in pastel blazers, plaids and mixed prints. We expect all the boys to be looking as chic as these lads and rocking the bow-ties come spring carnival.

The show showcased killer designs from Jason Brunsdon, Craig Braybrook and a dazzling finale from Richard Nylon as well. What a magical night!
