Styleyes: Fred Hates Fashion Runway Roundup

MSFW 2013 Fred Hates Fashion Runway Show

No better way to start our fashion week than heading to this super edgy underground fashion event in the Melbourne CBD (Swanston Street @ Goodtime Studios to be specific). The events premise was a dynamic mixture of fashion film and runway and it more than delivered, organised by a dynamic duo themselves, Hinny Tran (fashion filmmaker extraordinaire) and Dani Boudville (Graphic designer/Event Manager and all-around creative dynamo).

Craig Braybrook
The runway showcased the designs of some of Australia’s most unique and creative designers, making for an eclectic, effortlessly cool mix: Andy Truong, A.R. Emslie & Millie Mosca, Aaizel, Sonya Kraan, Anthony Capon and et al, Authority Clothing and Craig Braybrook. The runway show was then complemented by the premiere of a series of unique fashion films evoking the designer’s inspirations and, lucky me, I got to not only take part in one of the films but the show as well. Given I was lucky enough to be involved in the creation of the fashion film for Authority Clothing, I'll be sure to link that one for you guys on a later post.

Excited to get all the behind-the-scenes goss for you all, it was truly as manic as would be inspected. Everyone’s arrival was strategic to make sure that all the models could get through fittings as well as hair and make-up! Backstage was a chaotic mess of a combination of designer-clad or barely clothed, stilettoed models for hours leading up to show!

Aaizel
The make-up look was simple, airbrushing guns creating a slick canvas of clear faces, rouged cheeks and spidery lashes. This classic look was complimented with a combo of hairstyles. For the first half of the show, this meant sleek, chic ponytails and for the second half, avant-garde wigs in platinum, ginger and chestnut.

As the underground house music started to blast from the speakers, the energy of backstage was tangible, a mix of nerves and exhilaration. Being part of the show and collaborating with such a driven, enthusiastic and creative team was such a wonderful experience so a shout out to everyone at Fred Hates Fashion and Authority Clothing - can't wait until next year's show! Thanks guys!
